What's Wrong With The People Today?

Jimmy Stewart just finished up work on a new DFJ tune called "What's Wrong With The People Today." It's on the newest podcast, Fred's World 18, and is available on the mp3unsigned site as well as Audiocandy.com and is getting play on Big Blue Radio. I had fun recording my parts for the tune - lots of keyboards and a couple acoustic guitars. Jimmy's lyrics and electric guitar make the song soar. Thanks to Don for getting it started!

Also just finished work on a tune by Louis Twinn called "No Greater Love." It's also on the Fred's World 18 podcast and is available on Louis' site on SoundClick. Louis sent me the lead vocal track and a acoustic guitar track, to which I added more acoustic guitar, piano, organ, strings, bass, drums and a lot of backing vocals. Beautiful tune.

Working on several tunes for Tom McDonald's new CD.

One of my goldfish, R.J., died yesterday. I'm not sure of the cause but I believe it was due to a rapid and unexplained drop in the ph in his tank. His tankmate, Edgar, is still alive but very lethargic. I'm trying to raise the ph gradually. Hope it's not too late for him.

New Studio Equipment

Finally got the new Korg D3200 recording studio, a new mic, and various other little things. I've been waiting on this new studio before working on several new projects - more DFJ tunes, a Louis Twinn song, production of Tom McDonald's new CD, new QCC tunes, new StrangeCloud tunes. I have started to learn the machine, getting used to the feel of it and learning the capabilities of the eq, effects, routing, systems, etc. So far I am very impressed. I put a cover version of Dylan's "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" on podcast 14 that was done on this new studio. 28 tracks, each done in one take.

Everything's Bigger in Dallas

Brand new song from DFJ finally available to stream on the net. Don worked on it initially. Sent it to me for further fun, then on to Jimmy for the crowning touches of insanity. This is one crazy song, sort of in the style of Frank Zappa. Have a listen at any of these spots!

DFJ on SoundClick
DFJ on RocketRadio
DFJ on MP3Unsigned

More DFJ songs are underway, in various stages of development.

Pink Floyd Reuniting!

I am so much looking forward to Saturday's reunion of Pink Floyd at the Live8 show in London. I sure hope it's broadcast in the U.S. Wish I could go but unfortunately tickets were nearly impossible to get unless you live in the UK. Rumors are that the Floyd (with Roger Waters) will play 2 or 3 songs from Dark Side of the Moon, along with a couple other songs, possibly Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb.

Isn't it strange how big expenses all seem to come in three's? This past week I had to replace the air conditioner and furnace, then the washer and dryer, then get a new lawn mower. Always seems to happen this way.

Several music projects in the works and in the planning stages. I'm holding off on most of it though for another month or 6 weeks until I am able to get some new recording gear. The new unit I'm waiting for is supposed to be available at the end of July.

Pocast Fred's World Program 7 is now available.

New Song, New Podcast

"Questions," the song done with REMO, is finished and has been getting very favorable response. It's already up in the top 20 on Big Blue Radio. Have a listen on the new QCC page at ArtistLaunch.

I started a podcast. These things are all the rage now and apparently thousands of people download them daily and listen on their computers and in their iPods. They range from in depth discussion of political issues, to simply music broadcasts, to comedy. I will try to make mine interesting by combining some news stories (typically the strange stuff), humor, maybe some reviews of movies, tv, books, poetry, stories, interviews, and whatever comes along. I'll also feature a couple songs from new and upcoming artists. Each show should be in the 15-20 minute range.

New Slow Down

Too many things to do. Just can't slow down, but don't really want to. Did a bunch of work on the reef tank this morning, cleaning up and doing a water change. Worked on several backing vocal parts for the tune I am doing with REMO. It's nearly finished. REMO is putting the final touches on it now. Working on another DFJ tune too. Jimmy has one that Don and I have laid down our tracks for, and hopefully he'll have it ready soon. Oh, also mowed the yard today and did a little gardening. Going to the movies tonight.

New Tuneage

Working on several new tunes. The DFJ songs are coming along fine. Should have one ready to go to Jimmy today or tomorrow. Also working on one with REMO. It's a QCC tune that I had written for the next QCC CD but I thought REMO might like to add some parts and he has really come up with some great stuff! Should be completed within a week or two.
